In the past, I have professed my love for the ladies over at East Coast Creative and today is no different. I love them and their creative genius. They really do have the best and most creative ideas. I am not ashamed to say that I took one of their great ideas and put my own Halloween Obsessed spin on it!
For their new show Knock it Off they made an awesome Marquee Sign for their client who is a Baker Extraordinaire. Check it out.
Seriously!!! It’s amazing right? These ladies are good! Click on the picture above for the Full Tutorial on how they made it. I followed it pretty closely in making my Halloween version.
I gathered all my supplies.
It was a good shopping day for me at Hobby Lobby. The wood chip letters were 40% off and the lights were 50% off. S.C.O.R.E.
I went with smaller letters than they had on their sign because I was worried that my sign would be too large with the others. In hindsight, I would go with their larger letters because these smaller letters have skinny spots where it was quite hard to add the lights… we annihilated some of the letters with our drill bit.. but it was ok… it was fixable. Another step of theirs I altered was drilling the holes in the letters and on the MDF board separately. I glued my letters down and drilled all holes simultaneously. I think I would also do this step their way next time. The density of the letters is so much less substantial than the MDF so the drill did this funny stall thing after it breezed through the letters and it made a mess of some of the letters right around the drilled spot. Again, fixable.. but would’ve been a cleaner look had I done it their way. Just one more step I did not do altogether was adding the back trim pieces, and I only skipped that because I was not hanging my sign but leaning it against my house.
Enough talking… Check out my signs.
During the Daytime.
I am so crazy happy with how these turned out! I am quite proud actually!
Several adults who’ve seen them said I should sell them – Thanks! Huge Compliment!!
Every kid that has seen them (including my own) has promptly said “Where’s the Or?”
What fun Halloween Projects have you DIY’ed?
